[Japanese Sweet] Castella Cake

 Ataya ~ "Hi there !! Today I will show you how to make a Japanese Castella Cake カステラ. Very simple recipe. Let's see ... "

1. Gathering all ingredients. As describe below.

  • Wheat Flour (小麦粉) 1/2 cup ~5 Baht
  • Egg(タマゴ) 2 eggs ~ 10 Baht 
  • Honey(蜂蜜) 1-2 teaspoon ~ 5 Baht
  • Mirin (味醂) 1-2 teaspoon ~ 5 Baht
  • Rice Bran Oil (米ぬか油) 2-3 table spoons ~ 3 Baht
  • Seasoning(調味料)[Salt(),Sugar(砂糖)] ~  5 Baht

Total cost = 33 Baht

 

 

2. First separating egg yolk and egg white. 

  

3. At egg yolk bowl. Add flour, salt, water and honey. Stir them well.


 

4. At egg white bowl. Add sugar and mirin. Whisking them together. 

 5. When soft peak formed then it was enough.


6. Pour egg yolk into the egg white and mixing them together.


 7. Pour batter into cake pans that has cooking oil painted inside.

 

8.  Bake in air fryer at 150 Celsius for about 10-15 minutes.

 

9. Here we are !! Japanese Castella Cake !! Enjoy

[Japanese Food] Chestnut Rice

 Ataya ~ " Happy New Year 2025 !! Today I will show you how to make the Chestnut Rice (栗ご飯); a very simple japanese recipe. Let's see ... "

1. Gathering all ingredients.As describe below

  • Rice(お米) 2 cup  ~10 Baht 
  • Roasted Chestnut (焼き栗)  1 Cup ~ 30 Baht
  • Dried Salted Sea weed (海苔) 1/2 pack   ~10 Baht
  • Seasoning(調味料)[salt(塩),Mirin (味醂),Soy sauce(醤油)] ~ 5 Baht

Total cost = 55 Baht

 

2. First, wash and rinse rice. Soaking it in water for about 30 minutes.

 

3. Take off the shell from chestnut

 

4. Put chestnut into rice. Add soy sauce, salt and mirin. Mixing everything together. 

5. It's rice cooker time !! Press button and wait until it's done.    

 

 6. After cooked, Stir it well.

7. Put chestnut rice into Japanese style bowl. Put some dried seaweed on top if you want more flavour. Oishi desu !!
